Very exciting trip to the site today. It was the first time that we clearly could see the footprint of the building taking shape. What you see in these images is the formwork for the basement and the retaining wall which resolves the sloping topography.
This is the first phase of the concrete work. After the concrete work is set and backfill is in place, the upper level will be formed. The design requires a staggered foundation, which is why it must be cast separately. The diagram above shows the area being formed in red. This is about 1/3 the area of the house, and about 1/2 of the overall building footprint.
We are genuinely excited to see this happening. A big shoutout to the concrete team who manually carried and set each of these forms.
